Abu Dhabi airport stopover: grab a bite to eat
There are numerous restaurants and cafés, both before and after the security gates. Most are open 24 hours a day. You can eat at fast-food outlets such as McDonald's, Burger King and cafés.
You can also sit down to dinner at traditional restaurants such as O'Learys SportsBar, Yumcha Asian Food and Montreux Jazz Cafe. Be warned that most restaurants are expensive. Fortunately, they are, a supermarket is located in the Skypark just opposite the airportoffering more affordable food options.
Relax in one of our lounges
Lounges allow you to enjoy delicious food, watch TV, follow the news - all in a calm, relaxed environment. Many travelers don't realize that you can enter a lounge for just a few hours.
There are several fee-paying lounges at Abu Dhabi airport. some include showers to refresh you.
Do a little sightseeing
If you have half a day to spare, visit Sheikh Zayed mosquethe city's most emblematic monument. Discover the world's largest carpet and one of the world's largest chandeliers.
People of all religions and nationalities are welcome daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.except on Friday afternoons. Proper attire is required for entry, so plan your visit in advance.
You can also visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Opened in 2017, the museum boasts a permanent collection created by many famous artists over the centuries, as well as temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists.
The A1 public bus connects all airport terminals with the city center. This air-conditioned bus runs every 40 minutes, 24 hours a day, for about 1 euro per person. Or opt for a cab, with fares to the city center from 7 euros.
Visit Yas Island
Located between the airport and the city center, Yas Island is home to a wealth of Middle Eastern entertainment. Visit the Yas Marina circuit, one of the most technologically advanced Formula 1 circuits in the world.
Experience the thrill of Ferrari Worldthe world's largest indoor theme park, celebrating Ferrari with rides, simulations, shopping, shows and the world's fastest roller coaster!
Go shopping
Terminals 1 and 3 are home to countless shopping opportunities, from international boutiques to Duty Free, you're bound to find what you're looking for at Abu Dhabi airport.
High-end boutiques include Mont Blanc, Rolex, Burberry, Bulgari and Emporio Armani. You can also take part in a popular Middle Eastern tradition: the Big Ticket Raffle. Buy a raffle ticket and you could win the chance to win a lot of money or even a luxury car.
Relax in a spa
TOSA Spa offers manicures, pedicures, express foot and back treatments and full body massages at Terminal 1 and Skypark Plaza. Treatments are performed in separate areas.
Six Senses spas offer luxurious treatments to members and guests of the Etihad Diamond First and Pearl Business Class lounges in terminals 1 and 3.
Take some time to rest
Abu Dhabi is often a stopover between two or more long-haul flights, so your time zones may be a little off. Take advantage of a long stopover to catch up on some sleep.
There are two hotels located at the airport, one in the transit area of Terminal 1 and the other just across the street from the airport. So you have plenty of options for a quiet night's sleep.
A stopover at Abu Dhabi airport is not an end in itself. There are plenty of shows to do on site, and you'll always find something to keep you busy. Here, you can even recharge your batteries before setting off on your next flight.
