Visit taken in Dubai compatible with all your devices?
I'll tell you more about it in this article.
Catch in Dubai: article summary
What types of socket outlets are available in Dubai?
Sockets in Dubai are, in general, G-type. In other words, the rectangular 3-pin plug you'll find in the UK!
Dubai and all the United Arab Emirates operate between a supply voltage of 220V-240V and 50 Hz.
Which adapter do you need?
If you are planning to visit Dubai and your electrical appliances do not have a G-type plug, you will need to bring an international adapter to convert your plug type to a British G-type socket.
A power strip can be ideal if you're charging many devices simultaneously. Don't hesitate to get one that also includes USB ports. That way, you'll be sure to charge your laptop without cluttering up an outlet.
In some cases, you'll see plugs from other regions. However, unless you're staying in very old accommodation, this is unlikely. So, on your travels, you're likely to come across two other types of socket: type C and type D.
Type C is the standard European plug. Commonly used in Europe, South America and Asia, but also in many other countries. Type E and F plugs will also fit a type C socket.
The other type of plug, type D, is mainly used in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and a few African countries. No other type of plug does not fit into a type D socket.
Take a power strip with you to Dubai
I strongly recommend that you take with you a power strip for charging several devices at the same time. Hotels never have enough sockets, and if you're traveling with the family, this can quickly become a problem. With a universal power strip, you can charge all your devices simultaneously.
Will your room be equipped with a USB socket?
Some hotels in Dubai now provide USB sockets in their rooms, but this is not always the case. this is not the case in all hotels. So it's best to take along a G-type power strip with built-in USB sockets.
Do you need a voltage converter in Dubai?
All power outlets in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates provide a standard voltage of 220 V with a standard frequency of 50 Hz.
You can use all your equipment in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates if the voltage of your device is between 220 V and 240 V.
The standard frequency in Dubai and the United Arab Emirates is 50 Hz. Again, you shouldn't have many problems with your devices. However, I would advise you to check carefully the intended frequency of your device to avoid operating problems.
Buying a power strip in Dubai
If you find that you don't have the right plug or voltage converter when you arrive in Dubai, don't worry! These items are easy to find in the main shopping malls in Dubai.
Expect pay around AED 20 (€5.50) for a simple plug converter. A voltage converter could cost a lot more, so it's best to check the voltage of your device before you travel.
