Before mega-malls existed, Dubai had traditional open-air markets known to locals as "souks". These souks have everything you're looking for. If you have excellent haggling skills, these souks are well worth the detour.
The gold souk
One of the first places I always recommend visiting is the Gold Souk.
It's a must for shoppers interested in buying gold bars, jewelry and other precious stones. Even if you're not looking to buy anything, the souk remains an incredible place to visit. That said, the countless stores offering superb jewelry in Arabic, Indian and Italian designs could change your mind.
The Gold Souk is open:
- From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays
- Visit Friday, 4 to 10 p.m.
Shopping in Dubai: the spice souk
Located in DeiraThe Spice Souk is just a stone's throw from the Gold Souk. Dubai's Spice Souk is one of the city's most popular souks for locals and tourists alike. Here, spices are imported from all over the world.
You can find a wide variety of spices from India, Pakistan, Turkey and other Middle Eastern and Asian countries. You can buy any type of spice, datesDried fruits and other delicacies are available at the spice souk. Shoppers can also buy various types of clothing, crockery, oud and Arab perfumes in addition to spices.

- Weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Arte: the manufacturers' market
ARTE is the hot spot for art lovers who always want to add something new to their collection. This is where you can get excellent works of art by local artists without paying a high price. The market is held every Friday at different locations in Dubai.
Dubai's best shopping malls
Dubai is known for its huge shopping malls. The latter, more modern than the souks, are true meeting and shopping places. High-end stores such as Hermès and Bulgari take pride of place at the center of these gigantic shopping malls.
Shopping in Dubai: The Dubai Mall
Visit Dubai Mall is without doubt the largest shopping mall in the Emirates. The venue includes several flagship stores and a fashion avenue dedicated to luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Givenchy and others.
The Dubai Mall is also home to the first Apple Store in the United Arab Emirates. It's home to the city's only Bloomingdales, and the recently opened Charlotte Tilbury store is one of many exclusive stores at The Dubai Mall.

- Visit Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.
The Mall of the Emirate
Visit Mall of the Emirates is one of Dubai's biggest and most visited shopping destinations, especially for those living in theAl Barsha.
This shopping center features over 600 storesincluding luxury brands from all over the world. In addition to shopping, visitors can enjoy exciting activities at Mall of the Emirates such as Ski Dubai, Magic Planet, VOX Cinema, Astro Blasters and the climbing section called Go Sport.
Located on Sheikh Zayed Roadthis place opens :
- From Sunday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- From Thursday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to midnight
Store Dubai: the Ibn Battuta
Visit Ibn Battuta shopping center is the perfect place for shopping in Dubai. The Ibn Battuta shopping mall's countless brands and outlets make it a favorite with locals and tourists alike.
The mall's unique architecture is one of its most striking features. The entire mall is divided into groups from different countries, including India, Persia, China, Egypt, Tunisia and Andalusia. In addition to shopping, visitors to the mall can enjoy their time in a variety of activities such as trampolining, bowling and many other forms of entertainment.

The Outlet Mall
The Outlet Mall is the best place for shopaholics, as the mall's offers a range of factory outlets for most international brands. Some of the brands at Dubai Outlet Mall are Vero Moda, Calvin Klein, Mango, Levi's Strauss, Tommy Hilfiger, Aldo and many more.

- From Saturday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Visit Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
