Dhows are traditional wooden fishing boats, usually with an open deck equipped with cushions for lounging, as well as a shaded area. Larger dhows have two or even three decks. Although you'll still see dhows used for fishing all over Oman, they are primarily used for tourism and are quite comfortable.

Whale shark season runs from May to OctoberSeptember to January is considered the best season for diving. You can swim alongside these majestic marine animals during your excursion.

For a truly unique experience in Oman, why not sleep under the stars on a traditional dhow? You'll have the chance to see dolphins, snorkel around Telegraph Island, dine aboard your boat, then sleep on the wooden deck.

This nocturnal excursion offers a rather idyllic setting! I highly recommend it if you're a couple looking to spend some time together just a few miles from Dubai.

When to visit Oman's fjords?

The best time to visit Oman is between November and March. Daytime temperatures are pleasant and are around 25 to 30 °C. In the middle of the night, you find yourself a climate reaching 20°C.

The summer months, June to August, can be very hot in Oman. During this period, summer temperatures soar. up to 40 °C and rarely fall below 30 °C. So unless you're planning to camp in the mountains, where you'll find yourself in a cooler climate, it's best to avoid these months.

April, May, September and October can still be quite hot. A dhow trip at this time of year can be quite uncomfortable.

Getting around Oman
