Reinventing the future of transport, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is one step closer to launching the the world's first Hyperloop linking Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Popularly known as Hyperloop Dubai or Virgin Hyperloop One, this multi-billion dollar project will reduce commuter travel times between Dubai and Abu Dhabi. from about one hour to 12 minutes.

In 2019, the city has already seen the concept's debut at the Dubai International Motor Show. Scaled up to its actual size, the Hyperloop prototype was the innovation to be discovered at the show. Visitors got a glimpse of a driverless, ultra-fast means of transport.

Despite the good progress of the work, The launch date for the Dubai Hyperloop has not yet been confirmed.

What is Hyperloop one and how does it work?

The Virgin Hyperloop One is a fast mode of transport. It transports passengers and freight directly to their destination in record time. This ultra-fast tube system involves a suspended capsule made up of several passenger pods in an almost empty environment.

With exceptional speed up to 1,123 km/hThe capsule glides along thanks to electric propulsion. This requires minimal energy. This is made possible by an exclusive linear electric motor system, non-contact electromagnetism and ultra-low aerodynamic drag.

How will Dubai's Hyperloop benefit the community?

Originally imagined by Elon Musk, the Hyperloop concept has been adopted to provide a technology that will redefine transportation in the near future.

The basic idea is to reduce pollutionand travel times. Residents can access job opportunities not just in one city, but also in a bordering country, without having to relocate or change their current lifestyle. For example, a resident living in a rental apartment in Mussafah will be able to commute to Dubai. to work in less than 15 minutes. This is a significant reduction on the one-and-a-half-hour journey that is currently the norm.

Businesses in the United Arab Emirates will benefit greatly. The main focus is on high-priority consumer goods such as fresh food and medical supplies that require immediate delivery. With goods moving faster over longer distances, industries will have an efficient logistics system that will translate into substantial business growth.

Why is the Hyperloop different from high-speed trains?

Metro trains follow a fixed schedule and have several stops. Dubai's Hyperloop, however, departs on demand whenever passengers are ready to leave and takes them directly to their destination without stopping en route. It also runs two to three times faster than the fastest train.

How much will the Hyperloop ticket cost in Dubai?

Ticket prices have not yet been revealed, but they should be affordable. Once there are official announcements on ticket prices for the Hyperloop from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, I'll update this article.
