What is the Louvre Abu Dhabi?
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is the result of a partnership with the famous French institution. the largest museum in the United Arab Emiratesopened in 2017. The museum houses over 600 historical, cultural and artistic works from around the world.
From Renaissance paintings to ancient Chinese sculptures, XVᵉ century world maps and contemporary art by artists from the United Arab Emirates, this Louvre is considered the first universal museum in the Arab world. Although relatively new, it has become one of the city's main tourist attractions and a true cultural landmark.
Where is the Louvre Abu Dhabi?
The Louvre Abu Dhabi and its gigantic domed structure sit atop Saadiyat Island. It is more or less 5-minute drive from downtown Abu Dhabi or about an hour's drive from Dubai.

What to see inside the museum?

Starting with Egyptian antiquities, the collections culminate in breathtaking art installations such as Mathilde Laurent's "Le nuage parfumé" and Ai Weiwei's "La Fontaine de lumière".
As you stroll through the rooms, you'll encounter iconic masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci's "La Belle Ferronnière", Giovanni Bellini's "Madonna and Child" and Vincent Van Gogh's 1887 self-portrait.
Contemporary art lovers will love the museum's modernist galleries. Works by Arab and international artists such as Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol are on display.
Avant-garde and futuristic designs
If that's not enough, the museum building itself is a work of art! The domed structure and cuboid building were designed by the famous French architect Jean Nouvel. Under its immense dome, you'll find light and water effects. A perfect place to take an afternoon break!
Visit the Children's Museum
The Louvre Abu Dhabi is not just for adults to enjoy. Children can have fun too! The Louvre devotes three floors of interactive exhibits to children. Artistic adventures, activities and much more to satisfy their curiosity await the little ones!

How long does it take to explore the museum?
Although this museum is nowhere near as large as the Louvre Paris, you'll need plenty of time to explore its many wings. Count on 3 hours to see the main collections.
