Opa in Dubai: article summary
OPA in Dubai in a nutshell
OPA is one of Dubai's many Greek restaurants, located at the Fairmont Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road. Only recently opened, it quickly caught the attention of Dubai residents, as it was constantly busy on Sunday evenings. This rapid popularity has enabled it to build its reputation and become one of Dubai's most influential venues.
Expect an exceptional atmosphere and a meal worthy of the finest restaurants. If you're dreaming of eating Greek cuisine, I strongly advise you to visit the OPA in Dubai.
A varied Greek-themed menu
The menu offers a good selection of tapas, salads and hot and cold starters. With plenty to choose from, I recommend you start with spicy feta tapas. The latter are perfectly spiced with paprika and a hint of roasted peppers, as is the smooth Santorini fava that spreads over hot pitta bread. It's a a real treat that will whet your appetite.
Then continue your culinary journey with a beet salad with yoghurt and mint. This refreshing dish for sharing is often accompanied by other starters. Once that's finished, you can move on to another entry. Personally, I'd recommend grilled octopus with white bean purée. The octopus is cooked to perfection, but the white bean purée is surprising.
A hearty meal at Opa Dubai
As good as the starters are, save some room for the main course. At OPA Dubai, you can try grilled Cypriot halloumi. This very popular cheese is incredibly delicious when grilled. The salinity of the cheese is well balanced with the sweetness of the grilled fig and raisin sauce. Once you've tried it, you won't be able to get enough.
If you prefer to play it safe, I suggest you look for kleftiko, slow-cooked lamb that literally melts in your mouth, on the menu of this Greek restaurant. This dish is particularly succulent, accompanied by a tasty feta-infused purée. A combination of two flavors that you can't avoid when you visit OPA Dubai.
If all that food doesn't fill you up, you can take advantage of the local dessert menu. I recommend you try the loukmades. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, these little balls of honey and pistachio pastry are topped with chocolate sauce. A perfect end to the meal!
Take advantage of the venue's shows
If the food isn't reason enough to visit OPA, then the entertainment is. At a few points during the evening, the staff offer traditional dance performances, and guests are invited to join in and encouraged to break a plate or two, all the while shouting: OPA! A Greek tradition which was easily exported to Dubai.
How much will it cost to eat at OPA Dubai?
Expect to pay around 200 AED (€52) per person for a few starters, a main course and a dessert, excluding drinks. A relatively fair price considering the venue you're eating in and the shows you'll be attending.
Enjoy an all-new brunch menu
