Umm Al Quwain is a relatively small emirate close to well-known destinations such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
It is nestled between Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman, along the west coast of the United Arab Emirates.

Splash around in the Dreamland water park
As the city's fashionable entertainment destination, Dreamland water park is the ideal place for a family getaway. This popular attraction was inaugurated in 1997 by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Rashid Al Mualla.
Sheikh Rashid wanted to build one of the largest family leisure parks in the Middle East.
Dreamland Aqua Park, one of the largest water parks in the United Arab Emirates, offers a wide range of fun activities, giving you the choice of from over 30 rides and attractions!
You can have an exciting time on the "Family Raft Ride" or get your thrills on the "Lako-O-Waves". Visitors can also overnight camping in the park and try out different sports, including volleyball, tennis and basketball.
Visit the Umm Al Quwain National Museum
A perfect haunt for history buffs, the National Museum offers a glimpse into the Emirates' rich past. The museum is so well maintained thatyou feel transported back in time!
Although the museum is small, it offers a fascinating selection of artefacts, archaeological finds and war memorabilia.
The guided tour usually lasts an hour, which is enough time to soak up the historic ambience of the place.
Stop off at Umm Al Quwain fort
Built in 1786, the fort was constructed by His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Majid Mu'alla to guard the city. Located in the center of Umm Al Quwain, it served as the entrance to the old town. The fort was also the residence and seat of his government until 1969.
Don't miss the Royal Family Heritage section, where you can learn more about Sheikh Rashid's artifacts. These are on display in "The Ruler's Properties" room, which also features a collection of traditional gold jewelry.
A glazed golden royal family tree is on display. The fort also houses models of archaeological sites such as the "Al-Dur".
Enjoy water sports at the UAQ Marine Club
Although the emirate doesn't have as many choices as water sports activities in Dubai, the UAQ Marine Club is a perfect place for water lovers. The club also houses some of the best restaurants in Umm Al Quwain.
If you're a beginner, try kayaking or canoeing and enjoy the Donut Ride. These popular activities are also known for being extremely safe and family-friendly.
They require no previous experience or training. All you have to do is relax and let the waves carry you along.
If you're feeling adventurous, stand-up paddling is a great activity to try. However, if it's not your cup of tea, ride a wakeboard and water ski!
Other must-do activities include windsurfing, barge trips, camping and fishing.
Explore the islands
Unlike the more cosmopolitan cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Umm Al Quwain focuses more on promoting natural beauty and heritage.
This includes a series of islands just off the coast of Umm Al Quwain, surrounded by dense mangrove forests. First-time visitors can explore the islands of Al Harmala, Al Chewria, Al Humaida, Al Qaram and Al Sinniyah.
Al Sinniyah is the largest and most popular of the Umm Al Quwain islands. Receiving considerable attention from the people and the government, it is a unique tourist attraction.
A nature reserve home to numerous species of migratory birds and marine life, it's the perfect place for nature lovers.
Enjoy the national sport
Umm Al Quwain's endless sand dunes make it an excellent location for camel racing. One of the famous camel racing areas in Umm Al Quwain is the Al Labsa area.
The winter season is the best time to discover camel racing, when the temperature remains tolerable. The races start early in the morning. Find out more about camel racing, I'll let you read my article on the subject.
