If you're heading out into the desert, you'll need to do a camel ride! It's one of those special experiences you can only have in a few places in the world, and it's well worth it.
Camel rides are also fun for the whole family, but don't go on a very long ride with young children. On the other hand, children aged 3 to 4 should be able to make a short circuit.
Visit LEGOLAND Dubai
If you are visiting Dubai with children under 12, you can also visit the theme park LEGOLAND Dubai. It's the same concept as all the other LEGOLAND parks around the world, with colorful shows and fun rides designed primarily for the youngest members of the family.

Family activities in Dubai: go to the beach
Dubai is lined with really nice beaches. I can't imagine a family trip to Dubai without spending at least a few days at the beach.
Some hotels have beach access and/or their own private beaches. So if you're in Dubai for a family vacation, it's best to look for a hotel on the beach.
If you're staying in a city hotel and not on the beach, you'll be pleased to know that there are many pleasant public beaches in Dubai. For example, Marina Beachnear The Walk, is the perfect place to spend a few hours with the family.
