Where is Dubai?
Dubai is at the heart of the United Arab Emiratesin the Middle East, and is one of the world's leading 7 emirates Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Adjman, Sharjah, Fujairah, Ras al-Khayma and Umm al-Qaywayn.
It lies between the Sultanate of Oman, which surrounds the emirates to the north and east, Saudi Arabia to the south, and the Persian Gulf to the west, offering Dubai in particular its superb beaches.
The the world's second-largest emirateThis is second only to Abu Dhabi, which accounts for 86.7 % of the region as a whole! However, the city of Dubai is the most populous, with almost 3.5 million inhabitants.
In which country is Dubai located?
Dubai is an emirate (a state) that is part of the country known by the terms United Arab Emirates (UAE), whose capital is Abu Dhabi.
On which continent is Dubai located?
Dubai is sometimes associated with the African continent, but thanks to its position at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, it's the perfect place to do business, Dubai is well located in Western Asia.
Is it a city or an emirate?
Dubai is both a city and an emirate. The two terms are used almost interchangeably when referring to visit DubaiYou'll not only be visiting the city, but also the surrounding area, if you opt for a desert excursion.
How is Dubai organized?
The city of Dubai spans 35 km2 and is divided into 6 major zones, each with its own points of interest, attractions and changing atmosphere. Here they are, listed from north to south:
- The Deiraan ancient and authentic place where you can find Dubai Creek
- Bur Dubaito the south of the creek, with its souk and its traditional districts
- Downtown Dubaithe center of economic activity and home to the city's most emblematic monuments, such as the Burj Khalifa

- The artificial islands of Palm Island, home to the impressive residential district of Palm Jumeirah

Where is Dubai in relation to France?
As the crow flies, Dubai and Paris are separated by 5,200 kilometers. However, the flight to Dubai International Airport is estimated at just over 6,700 kilometers.
Non-stop, allow approximately 7-hour flight.
What's special about the region?
Dubai's location means that the climate is different than we're used to in Europe. But that's not the only change to expect during your stay, as I'll explain below.
High temperatures
Dubai's climate is tropical and it doesn't matter when you leavetemperatures range from 24° to 30° from November to February, and from 30° to over 40° in the hottest months, with peaks in June, July and August.
It rains about 25 days a year and humidity levels can be particularly high during the summer months. The good news is that the water in Dubai can happily exceed 30°!
Jet lag
There are jet lag from 2 to 3 hours between France and Dubai. The emirate is located in the UTC/GMT+4 time zone and does not change time. However, when calculating the time difference between France and Dubai, we will have to take into account our summer/winter time.
Different rules
Dubai is a Muslim country and the rules of conduct are different.
There are dress code obligations to respect, restraint behaviour to adopt concerning amorous demonstrations, insults or blasphemies are prohibited and the alcohol consumption controlled. Narcotics are of course banned, and their use severely punished.

What are the biggest towns to visit in the area?
