The district was built in the 19\u1d49 century by Qasim Bin Abdullah Al Bastaki. The construction has <strong>was financed by wealthy Dubai textile and pearl merchants.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What was once a drab old neighborhood is today a labyrinth of centuries-old wonders that remain true to the essence of old Dubai. Legend has it that the district was undergoing a massive renovation, and that it was Prince Charles' visit to the area that made it so special. <strong>which stopped the demolition of the latter.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc117153752\"><\/a><strong>Bastakia architecture in old Dubai<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Originally designed by Qasim Bin Abdullah Al Bastaki, the district was renovated in the early 2000s under the careful supervision of architect Rashad Bukhash. He supervised the renovation of <strong>more than 50 buildings in the city<\/strong>and the construction of several museums.<\/p>\n<p>The architecture is truly unique, drawing inspiration from the many nations that have helped make Dubai the city it is today. Islamic calligraphy adorning the walls of the buildings, Levantine decorations, the Aran Hijazi mashrabiyya and the North African style of the courtyards are just some of the <strong>different styles of architecture you'll find at Bastakia in Old Dubai.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-673\" src=\"https:\/\/dubaifacile.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/al-bastakiya.jpg\" alt=\"al bastakiya\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dubaifacile.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/al-bastakiya.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/dubaifacile.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/al-bastakiya-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dubaifacile.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/al-bastakiya-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc117153753\"><\/a><strong>Places to visit at Al Bastakiya<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The district is steeped in history. So it's not surprising that there are many sites to visit here.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Dar Al Nadwa<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The history of this building dates back to the XIX\u1d49 century. The building was constructed in 1925 by Abdul Rahman Mohammad Farooq. Since the renovation, it has hosted many important events such as. <strong>symposia, art exhibitions, conferences and national and international gatherings.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Sheikh Mohammed Center for Civilized Intercommunication Building<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Built in 1944, this landmark building is an excellent example of traditional Dubai architecture. After its renovation in 2004, the building became the headquarters of the Sheikh Mohammed Center for Civilized Intercommunication. Since then, many international conventions and important gatherings have been held here. Spread over an area of 300 square metres, <strong>this building is an icon of old Dubai.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Historic Buildings Department<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Built in the 1930s, <strong>it houses three stone staircases linking the two floors<\/strong>. The building stands out from all the other buildings in the area for the beautiful view it affords of the creek. After the building was restored in 1999, it became the headquarters of the Dubai Municipality's Historic Buildings Department.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Al Bastakiya: the Majlis Gallery<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This building, built in 1930, was renovated in 2002. Adorned with traditional Middle Eastern decor, Majlis's architecture takes you back to a time when antiques were all the rage. Today, it houses<strong>\u00a0traditional paintings, works of art and antiques.<\/strong> The site boasts some of the most unique pieces of ancient art in Dubai.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Architectural Heritage Society of Dubai<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Built in 1936, it looks like a small neighborhood building. However, it boasts one of the finest architectural designs in the whole of Al Bastakia. After its renovation in 2001, the building was renamed the Architectural Heritage Society of Dubai, and has since become one of Al Bastakia's most prestigious buildings. <strong>dedicated to preserving the neighborhood's architectural heritage.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc117153754\"><\/a><strong>How to get to Al Bastakiya in Dubai<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>There are several ways to get to Al Bastakiya in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p>You can <strong>take your own car or borrow a cab<\/strong> from anywhere in the city. All the drivers know the Al Bastakiya district.<\/p>\n<p>You can also get there by metro. The <a href=\"https:\/\/dubaifacile.fr\/en\/metro-dubai\/\">metro<\/a> closest to the Al Bastakiya district <strong>is the Al Fahidi station<\/strong>. Bur Juman station is also nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, you can take the bus. If you choose this means of transport, <strong>get off at the Al Fahidi stop.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Al Bastakiya district is a must-see when you visit Dubai. During your visit, I'm sure you'll pass through here at one point or another.
